McGill, Macdonald Student-run Ecological Gardens

The McGill, Macdonald Student-run Ecological Gardens is a manifestation of the student farmer movement at the university. Conceived 3 years ago, the main tenet is for students to learn and apply sustainable agriculture in practical ways.

With the cooperation of McGill professors and staff, local organic crop producers, and student volunteers the movement has grown to encompass a 1 1/4 acre ecological farm completely run by students.

The future of the MSEG depends on integrating the practical aspects of the farm into the academic life of the university, and on riding the ongoing push for sustainable agriculture research, exploration, and rediscovery both at the university and in the world as a whole.

External monetary funding and donations have gotten the movement to where it is today. Where it goes tomorrow will hopefully be carving a path into new horizons with the campus.
